Shownotes

In ep 169 of “How Do You Say That?!” sponsored by britishvoiceover.co.uk, Tammy King joins Sam and Mark to ask when is a safe read too safe? Do we need to be scared of making a script “too voiceovery”? We’ll look at what that means! Also in the show… Is it helpful when a client sends a scratch read for direction? Plus how getting the music for a read can change everything about your voice – the softness, the tonality and especially the pacing. We also examine how to pivot from whimsy to confident curiosity? Our wildcards are: an alien made of Smarties, a happy go lucky window cleaner, and a person muttering to themselves.

Our VO question this week is all about how you go about finding voice jobs for yourself!

Get involved! Have you got a Wildcard suggestion that we should try or an idea for the show? Send it to us via Mark or Sam’s social media or email it directly to podcast@britishvoiceover.co.uk

How do we build a better world together?

It starts with a question. Because questions spark curiosity. And curiosity – true, fearless curiosity – is how progress begins.

It’s not just a campus addition. It’s a declaration. A place where people come together, where disciplines intersect, where ideas don’t just co-exist, they collide.

Designed with identity, built for wellbeing, made to bring minds together, to accelerate the next generation, to create a better world.

About our guest:

Tammy King is an award winning singer songwriter turned voice actor based in the West Midlands. She studied popular music and vocal performance at college and university so she is no stranger to the microphone. Whilst the pandemic put Tammy’s live performances on hold, she began investing in a home studio and started volunteering as a local radio host and providing character voices for her husband’s online comic book.

Loving the versatility of voice work, Tammy did her research and began training in the field. Now approaching her 2 year voice acting anniversary, Tammy has already worked in multiple areas of the industry including corporate, radio, games and audio dramas with clients such as Vocalzone, Birmingham City Council, Playtonic and Hearthfall.
